Prepare Now
for Halloween Outreach |
Tract Evangelism is an effective way to
spread the Good News of God's love and offer
of salvation to all. Good
News & Crossway offers 11 Halloween
tracts for children (one in Spanish) using
various Bible translations. You can
read the full text of each tract
online. Tracts usually ship within 2-3
business days.
White Ribbon Against
Pornography Week
Oct. 28 through Nov. 4
|
The White Ribbon Against Pornography is
intended to educate the public about the
extent of the pornography problem and about
what can legally be done to fight back
against the flood tide of obscenity. • See a detailed
list of activities an individual or group can
do during WRAP Week and during the year at
the Morality
in Media website (select WRAP Campaign on
the menu in the upper right-hand corner of
the page). • Order
and wear a white ribbon lapel pin or place a
white ribbon magnet on your car. • Learn more
about organizing a local event and get more
information on the issues at CitizenLink.org.
• One of the
best ways to combat pornography is for
Christians to understand and proclaim God's
beautiful design for sexuality. Read
articles on the theology of sexuality at PureIntimacy.org. "Everyone who looks at a woman with lust
for her has already committed adultery with
her in his heart." Matthew 5:28

We Want To Help You!For 27 years, we at The Teaching Home have
been providing
information, inspiration, and encouragement
to home educators
from a distinctly Christian perspective. This kind of support is more personal and
warm than you
might expect from just words on a page. It
is actually real
communication from the hearts of like-minded
home schoolers who
have been where you are, know what you need,
and care enough
about you to share with you in writing. This Free E-Mail NewsletterWe trust that you find this newsletter
informative and
encouraging.
• Some of our
readers have told us that they print it out and
keep copies in a notebook. • You will find
our archive
of 180 past newsletters online. • Please
encourage your friends or support group to
sign
up to receive this newsletter online.
Always-Relevant
Teaching Home Back IssuesFifty-one back issues are offered online
or by mail order. The information, inspiration, and
encouragement packed into
each back issue never goes out of date. They
are always
relevant, applicable to your needs today. Order securely online. A reader in Indiana wrote, "I have
subscribed for the past ten years. You have
been my mainstay. When I first began home
schooling, I had no support group, and your
magazine gave me the encouragement and
knowledge to continue. I have read countless
letters from your readers who have said the
same thing." In each issue an average of 58 home
schoolers contribute
practical how-to articles, encouraging
letters, and ready-to-use
teaching tips. "The Teaching Home has been a part of my
continuing education since I started home
schooling, and I have kept every issue. "I often go back to old issues to find
creative, helpful hints or inspiration."
Meredith C., Florida Finding What You NeedTo find articles on a specific topic, go
to our online
store: • See a complete
listing of articles for each issue. • Use the search
box at the top of our online
store. If you already have a library of Teaching
Home issues, you
might want to use the topical
index of our last 39 issues
(1994-present) available online so you can
quickly put your
finger on the articles you need.
How True It Is!
Our nighttime ritual consists of my
husband reading to us (currently from the
Little House books ), followed by a passage
from the Bible. We then have a song
time let my one of the children and close our
time with everyone praying. On this particular night, it was
6-year-old Jonathan's turn to lead the
singing. Everyone was tired and yawning
and some of us were sick. It had not
been an easy day. Jonathan put it all in perspective and put
a smile back on my face when, as we sang
"Jesus Loves Me," he sang, "Little ones to
Him belong, They are work but He is
strong." Submitted by Geri H., Oregon Send your humorous
anecdote to
publisher@teachinghome.com.
Because we have been separated from God by
sin, Jesus Christ died in our place, then
rose to life again. If we trust Him as our
Savior and Lord, He will forgive our sin and
give us eternal life. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

Topical Index
of E-Mail Newsletter Archives
1. Spiritual / Family
2. General
3. Subject Areas
4. Holidays
Greetings,
In this issue we bring you a topical index
of selected issues in our E-mail Newsletter
Archives for your convenience in finding the
information you need. Finding InformationIn addition to using the topical index
below, you can use Google's Advanced Search
to find information in our Newsletter
Archives. 1. Place your desired word or
phrase in the "Exact Phrase" box. 2. Place
"teachinghome.com/newsletters" in the "with
all of the words" box. For example, you might remember reading
something about Wilberforce in one of our
issues and want to read it again. Using the
method above, you will be able to link
directly to issue #178, read that article,
and follow links to more information. Repeated and Updated SubjectsSince our E-mail Newsletter began in May,
2002, several topics have been readdressed
and updated from time to time and new
resources and Internet links have been added
to them. We have selected the most
recently
updated issues for our Topical Index. Some of the early issues have excellent,
in-depth information (e.g., our 15-Part
Series on Basic Skills), but may have some
broken or outdated links. We plan to
continually update these in order to provide
a comprehensive database of information on
home education. Using the InformationSome of our readers print out our
newsletters and place them in a notebook for
reference. You might want to use the
categories listed below to help you organize
and find information, or you might want to
keep this newsletter issue for
later reference. You can copy and paste the articles that
you want to keep into an e-mail or word
processing program and print it. This is
especially helpful if you want to highlight
sections or use parts as a checklist in
covering material with your children. Free E-Mail Newsletters vs. Print
MagazinesWhen we were no longer able to publish The
Teaching Home print magazine, due to
financial difficulties, we were happy to find
an alternative means of fulfilling our
mission statement of providing home-schooling
families with information, inspiration, and
encouragement from a distinctively Christian
perspective. We would love to resume the publication of
a print magazine and know that many of our
former readers would prefer print to e-mail,
but are not able to at this time. However, we have found many
unique benefits of the e-mail
newsletters, including:
• The low
cost, enabling us to provide them free to
all.
• The
expansion of information provided by links to
online data and free resources.
• The
timeliness of issues.
• The
shorter and more focused topics presented in
a succinct, bottom-line format that fit a
busy schedule. The amount of content in two months of
weekly e-mail newsletters is almost the same
as was carried in one issue of our bi-monthly
print magazine — all at no subscription
cost to you! In fact, we have made available the
equivalent of at least three years of
magazine content in our online Newsletter
Archives. AdvertisementsWe are thankful for the suppliers who
advertise in these newsletters and the
accompanying e-mails that we send you.
They
make it possible for us to provide this
service free to you. The large selection and wide variety of
quality resources that we present for your
consideration is also intended to help you in
your choice of educational materials —
a big and important part of your home
education.
